Volunteers help Croydon Animal Samaritans in many ways:

  1. Fostering animals short term until permanent homes are found.
  2. Help to 'taxi' cats/rabbits to and from the vets
  3. Collect animals that have been surrendered to us
  4. Volunteer staff at our charity shop (our shop is currently closed)
  5. Volunteer some DIY skills
  6. Donate unwanted gifts or goods to our charity shop

Fostering

Cat fosterers

If you live within the areas of Croydon, West Wickham, Beckenham, Bromley, or Catford or in the nearby surrounding areas, we would love to hear from you. You can foster if you live in a flat or house and it can be in a spare room. We will provide all necessary equipment, food and litter etc. You may also be required to take your foster cat to and from the vets for vaccination, neutering or treatment. For that reason it will be preferable that you are able to drive and have access to a vehicle.

Interested? Want to know more? Then call our helpline on 07934 179234 or 07825 809334

Dog fosterers

You will need to live in the Croydon or surrounding area. You will need to be home most of the day, live in a house with a garden and have no children under the age of 13. You must have had experience with dogs and have adequate fencing in the garden. You will hold a full driving licence and have the use of a vehicle.

For dog fostering only please phone 020 8688 6568

Rabbit fosterers

You can foster a rabbit/s in your home or garden. All equipment and food will be provided. We are desperate for fosters, with over 67,000 rabbits in rescues across the UK, we need your help.

Please email rabbits@croydonanimalsamaritans.co.uk for more details

Food bin collection

Due to success of the ongoing bin appeal CAS would love to hear from anyone interested in helping us by volunteering to empty food bins, counting in, or delivering them to the main sorting centre in South Croydon.

Please email us to find out more at: treasurer@croydonanimalsamaritans.co.uk

Taxi to the vets

All of our animals need to the visit the vet at some point, we would be very grateful if anyone is willing to take a cat or rabbit to the vets, or collect, perhaps after an operation. This would save the fosterer a huge amount of time.

Please email us to find out more at: enquiries@croydonanimalsamaritans.co.uk

Volunteering at a rescue centre

We currently do not have a rescue centre for cats (we rely on foster homes) so therefore we do not have any vacancies.

We need volunteers to help look after rabbits. This involves cleaning out, feeding, grooming and handling our animals.

The CAS shop volunteering (our shop is currently closed)

At Croydon Animal Samaritans, we have many dedicated volunteers working tirelessly to rescue, foster, and rehome animals in need.

We’re currently looking for keen and enthusiastic volunteers to help in our shop. Tasks include sorting and organising donations, assisting customers with their purchases, and contributing to a friendly, welcoming atmosphere. Prior experience is not essential—just a willingness to help and a positive attitude.

If you can spare a few hours a week, we’d love to hear from you!
