Not Just Croydon
Croydon Animal Samaritans have been helping and rescuing animals since 1974. We have many volunteers all working hard to rescue, foster and re-home all animals taken into our care.
Contrary to what our name suggests we cover a wide area not just Croydon. Our name was originally 'Animal Samaritans' but changed to Croydon Animal Samaritans when we found that another group had started using the same name.
We always have many animals that are desperately in need of loving homes, most of which you can find right here on the website. If you are not able to offer a home, you can still help by sponsoring any of the cats and dogs or feral cats who we are unable to home but who still need our care.
Another important part of Croydon Animal Samaritans is the fundraising side of the charity. As well as an Open Day every Summer we also have a fund raising shop in Croydon, please see our News page.
The charity relies totally on donations and fund raising to support the work we do.
We also have several foster homes across Surrey and into London, so we cater for a huge area to re-home the many cats and dogs that we rescue. Please see the link for Areas Covered for more details on where our fosterers are currently based.
Adopting an animal from CAS
If you see a cat or dog that you would like to adopt, you must telephone the fosterer whose telephone number appears with the cat or dogs details. Please DO NOT send emails in regard to adoption.
Our volunteers are not able to answer the phone before 12 noon or after 6 pm except in an emergency.
Do we ask for a donation when someone adopts an animal?
Yes, we do ask for a donation upon adoption of an animal. As a guide the minimum donation for an adult cat and an unvaccinated kitten (usually under 10 weeks) should be £90.00, and for a fully vaccinated kitten, £40.00 extra.
Please note if we are happy to home a cat or dog with you a lot will depend on what is available for homing at the time of your call.
5 Weeks Free pet insurance is available for cats and dogs adopted from Croydon Animal Samaritans - whatever their age!
Please be aware our aim is to find the most suitable home for our animals, and this may involve us visiting you for a home check. As a general rule all dogs will need regular access to a secure garden and we generally do not home cats or kittens to flats as we feel they should have the opportunity to safely explore outdoors and in a garden, feeling free to come and go through a cat flap. However, we can make exceptions to this if there are cats or kittens that need an indoor home because it is in their best interest, and this will be noted in their descriptions. We always make any physical and behavioural assessments we need using fully qualified professionals to decide on the best home for our cats and kittens based on their individual needs, and for some, indoor homes may only be needed short term. If you can offer an indoor home for a cat or kitten, please call us to discuss the animals we have available. If you can offer one or more cats or kittens a home there are lots to choose from on the cats and kittens pages. The fosterers will be glad to receive your calls.
Dulwich Cat Colony - Special Appeal
Recently CAS was made aware of a colony of stray cats in Dulwich
Our volunteers have been busy rescuing them. We have most of them in our care now and will continue on our mission to rescue the remaining cats, so all can have a chance to be adopted into a loving home in the future.
We are asking our supporters for donations to help us fund the cost of care and treatment for this colony and one of our volunteers has set up this fundraiser for them.
Any donations will be very much appreciated, as would sharing this fundraiser to help us gain more support. and reach our target.
The fundraiser will be updated regularly, so you can follow the progress of these cats. Hopefully some of the friendliest ones will be available for adoption very soon.

Please don't forget to share.
